About this policy

Last updated: September 2026

Azure Nature Tours is a small, family-run tour business based on Nyanda Station in Central Queensland. You may also see us on booking confirmations as Central Queensland Nature Tours or CQ Tours. We respect your privacy, and this policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we look after it.

We follow the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

We only ask for what we need to run your tour safely and keep in touch. Depending on how you deal with us, this may include:

  • your name, email address and phone number

  • booking details, such as tour dates, group size and the ages of any children

  • your vehicle details for our 4WD tag-along tours

  • an emergency contact

  • health, fitness or mobility information you choose to share so we can look after you on tour

  • anything you tell us in an enquiry, message or review

  • photos taken on tour

If you're booking for children or other people in your group, please only give us their details with their (or their parent's or guardian's) permission.

How we collect it

  • When you book through FareHarbor, our booking system

  • When you fill in a form on our website, including our contact form and fossil updates sign-up

  • When you email, call, text or message us on social media

  • Automatically when you visit our website, through cookies (see below)

Why we use it

  • To take and manage your booking, send confirmations and let you know about any changes, such as weather or road conditions

  • To keep you safe on tour and contact your emergency contact if something goes wrong

  • To answer your questions

  • To send you updates you've asked for, such as news about our 2027 fossil experiences

  • To improve our tours and our website

We won't use your information for anything unrelated to these purposes without asking you first.

Health and other sensitive information

Some information you share, such as medical conditions or mobility needs, is treated as sensitive under the Privacy Act. We only collect it with your consent. We only use it to look after your safety on tour, and we only share it with emergency services or medical providers if you need help.

Photos

We sometimes take photos on tour and share them on our website and social media. We'll always ask before using a photo in which you can be clearly identified, and you can ask us to remove one at any time.

Fossil experiences (from 2027)

If you take part in our fossil experiences, you'll be asked on your waiver whether you're happy for your first name and last initial to be recorded against any finds you help catalogue. That record may be shared with the palaeontologists we work with. It's entirely your choice, and saying no won't affect your tour.

Who we share it with

We never sell your information. We only share it:

  • with the services that help run our business, such as FareHarbor (bookings and payments), Wix (our website, forms and contact list) and our email provider

  • with accommodation or tour partners, only when you've booked a package that involves them or asked us to pass on your details

  • with emergency services, if your safety is at risk

  • where the law requires or allows us to

Payments are processed securely through FareHarbor's payment system. We don't see or store your full card details.

Some of these services store information on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. We choose reputable providers with strong security practices.

Cookies and our website

Our website is built on Wix, which uses cookies to make the site work and to show us general information about how visitors use it, such as which pages are popular. This doesn't identify you personally. You can switch off cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the site may not work as well.

Our website links to other sites, such as FareHarbor, Google and Tripadvisor. We're not responsible for how those sites handle your information, so it's worth checking their privacy policies too.

Emails and updates

We'll only send you updates or news if you've signed up or asked for them. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, or you can simply ask us to take you off the list.

Keeping it safe

We store your information securely and only people who need it to run your tour can access it. We keep booking and financial records for as long as the law requires, generally five years for tax purposes. After that, or once we no longer need it, we delete or de-identify it.

Seeing or correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you at any time, and ask us to correct or update it. There's no charge for this. We may need to confirm who you are before sharing anything, just to protect your privacy.

Questions or concerns

If you have a question about this policy, or you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please get in touch and we'll do our best to sort it out:

We're often out on tour or out of range, so email is the best way to reach us.

If you're still not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on our website, with the date it was last updated at the top.
