OUR STORY
A working cattle station, open by guided tour only
Nyanda Station has been held by the one family for close to sixty years. It's 38,500 acres of sandstone ranges, spring-fed creeks and hidden gorges on the doorstep of Carnarvon National Park, still worked on horseback with Droughtmaster cattle.
Because it's private, working land, the only way to see Nyanda is on a guided tour with us. We'll show you country most visitors to the Gorge never know exists, and share the stories of the people, plants, animals and rocks that make it what it is.

THE VIEW
Our lookout over rarely seen parts of Carnarvon National Park, high on the ranges. The Gorge country spreads out below, and it's where the Nyanda Gorge Tour finishes.
THE WATER
Two creek systems from the national park's gorges meet on Nyanda to form Consuelo Creek. Spring-fed and lined with sheoaks, Carnarvon palms, figs and lilly pillies, it's a fitting heart for the place of many waters.
THE RANGES
The red cliffs of Mt Carnarvon and the Carnarvon Range rise above the station. They're Clematis Sandstone, laid down in the Triassic, long before the white Precipice Sandstone cliffs of the Gorge.
THE HIDDEN GORGE
A gorge that has stayed a family secret for generations. A short 600m return walk takes you to a lookout over it, high on the sandstone.
DEEP TIME
Move across the property, move through time
Nyanda sits on Reid's Dome, where the land was pushed up and worn away to expose its oldest rocks in the centre, with younger layers ringed around them. Over 290 million years of history are laid out across the station, including the boundary of the Great Dying, the worst extinction in Earth's history.

Access is by guided tour only. Nyanda is private, working land.

Our current tours need your own high-clearance 4WD.

Dogs are welcome on our Nyanda tours, kept under control.

Biosecurity matters: if you've driven through weedy country, please wash down your vehicle before you arrive.

Leave gates as you find them, and give cattle and horses plenty of room.

Take nothing with you. Rocks, plants and fossils stay on the property.
